Jim Trotti, M.Ed., LPC, NCC,
Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor
Jim is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) at Parkaire Consultants. In practice, he has combined his education (Auburn University, M.Ed.) and experience as an LPC with his love of sports and personal fitness. He also uses his certification as a Personal Trainer (N.E.S.T.A.) to teach individuals about the mind-body connection and help them develop self-regulation techniques that benefit their mental health.
Jim works with individuals of all ages but specializes in working with adolescent and teenage boys. He uses Cognitive and Behavioral strategies to treat individuals with neurological disorders such as ADHD, Depression, Bipolar, Learning Disabilities, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. These strategies focus on supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of each patient and teaching them strategies to help them overcome (or accept) difficult life situations and combat unhealthy thought processes.
In addition to individual counseling, Jim also teaches motor planning (specifically for use in sports) to kids with Developmental Coordination Disorders, leads Social Skills groups with Gayle Born and Mary Jane Trotti, and is a former Learning Specialist in an Atlanta area school.
Another area of specialty is Functional Movement Disorders such as Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures and Conversion. Jim has developed and written a curriculum to treat these disorders and is consulting with a number of Atlanta area hospitals to treat patients.
