Phyllis Rosenthal, M.Ed.

Phyllis Rosenthal holds a Master’s Degree of Education in Learning Disabilities and Remedial Reading with a BS in Elementary Education, graduating as the top female in the college of education. Phyllis founded M’silot at Atlanta Jewish Academy (formerly Greenfield Hebrew Academy), a nationally recognized “school within a school” designed for children who learn differently, and had been the M’silot Director for the past fifteen (15) years. Under her leadership the program grew from eight (8) 1st grade students in 2000 to eighty (80) students, Kindergarten through 8th grade, in 2015.

Phyllis’ past educational experiences include the following: a consultant to schools in New York, California, and Florida that specialize in serving children with learning disabilities; an instructor at Austin Community College in Austin, Texas and Georgia Perimeter Community College in Atlanta, GA teaching Developmental Reading/Literacy courses; a Resource Learning Disabilities Instructor teaching reading based on the Orton-Gillingham approach; and most recently Founder and Director of M’silot, a school within a school for children diagnosed with learning disabilities.

Public speaking has taken her across the country and has been very well received. She presented at various conferences including the International Learning Disabilities Association in Denver CO; the International Dyslexia Association in Philadelphia, PA; The Lovett School and Holy Innocents in Atlanta; GISA (Georgia Independent School Association) at Westminster in Augusta, GA; and the Jewish Community Day School Network (RAVSAK) Annual Leadership Conference in Ft.
