TOURETTE SYNDROME ASSOCIATION

The TSA is offering a FREE training program on
Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for TICS (CBIT)
led by leading expert: Douglas Woods, Ph.D.
The Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA) is in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide education to physicians and allied healthcare professionals nationwide. The emphasis is on diagnosing and treating Tourette Syndrome (TS).

TSA is currently offering a training program on this new evidence-based behavioral approach for managing TS – CBIT. CBIT has been tested in two parallel multi-site randomized clinical trials. The intervention combines habit reversal training with psychoeducation and function-based behavioral interventions.

Douglas Woods, Ph.D., a principle investigator of the NIMH-funded studies, will conduct the three (3) hour training session. He is one of the co-authors of the book, Managing Tourette Syndrome, A Behavioral Intervention for Children and Adults, A Therapist Guide from the Treatment Works series by Oxford Press.

Participants will benefit from:

  • Authoritative information on TS and its common co-occurring conditions, the impact of environmental events on tics, and the research data supporting the CBIT treatment intervention
  • Detailed description and examples of the behavioral treatment protocol used in CBIT
  • A free copy of the newly published CBIT treatment manual and a comprehensive CD-DVD featuring practice parameters, important published papers, and useful videos
  • Access to online medical education resources on TSA’s website
  • The opportunity to be added to TSA’s physician and allied professional state referral lists.
